On Saturday June 13th, Euphemia and Angela staffed a table outside Market Basket in Rowley, MA to solicit sponsors for their participation in the walk-a-thon. Eupemia explaines that "the Friends of Uganda Orphans subcommittee currently covers the expenses for 15 orphan children in Uganda, all of whom are baptized in our church, that they might attend a high school which otherwise would be an impossibility for them. We pay for their room and board as well as tuition. We are also funding Fr. Paul who is a priest from Kenya, formerly a seminary instructor in Nairobi, who is now residing at our church building in Kampala where he has established a center for conducting church services and teaching our young people as well as other of our clergy, and potential clergy, who are untrained."
The walk-a-thon will be on Saturday, July 18 for 10 AM to 1 PM at Artesani Park in Brighton. For more info please contact Euphemia or Angie. Also, if you are available to walk on the 18th, or able to sponsor their efforts, Euphemia plans to leave the appropriate forms in church.

"Relay for Life" - American Cancer Society Fundraiser
The Routos family recently raised more than $1,000 themselves by participating in a 24 hour walk June 5th & 6th. Like many families theirs has been touched by cancer. Presbytera Ann hopes that in the future perhaps we could "field" a St. John's team and describes the event as follows "You must have enough people on a team to have at least one person walking on the track for a 24 hours period. The ACS makes it fun by making each hour a themed walk. People dress up and walk in slippers, PJ's - Mexican hats, water pistol walk (that's fun), music plays all day and night...and they have a luminary walk at 10:00 pm in memory of those who have died from cancer, are suffering from or survivors of cancer. It's very moving."
For more info contact Presbytera Ann or visit the website here.
